Do you have one? Or know someone with an unusual nickname.
Mine name got shortened twice! Apparently people are too lazy to use three syllables (Christina) so it got shortened to two (Tina) and then again to one (Tine)
Does anyone know how William gets shortened to Bill? Will, I understand, but where does the B come from?

The long answer is exactly what you experienced. Will was too hard to say so they swapped the "w" with a "b". Many, many, many years ago. Same with Robert going to Rob, too hard to say so let's make it Bob...

Tina!! Trouble is 'fanny' doesn't mean the same in the US as it does for us here!! Jenn, my sister is called Jennifer and she is known as Jenny. (She is a bit of a weird fish though!) ..and yea I like 'Jenn' my nickname is Fi (pronounced Fee... Not Fye...) my nickname from hubby is 'Rids, Ridley or Riley as 'Riley' is our surname. I just can't tell you what I call hubby as nicknames I'd be banned...!

The trick is to use key words.
Try, "Honey, I Beer (need) you to pick-up the Footballs (kids) from school tomorrow."

If my wife is acting out , I either throw chocolate at her (always keep chocolate in your pocket) or tell her she is acting like her moth.... no I can't even type that....

It would be funny if it were true, but it isn't of course.
I DO keep chocolate in the house at all times and I would never tell her she is acting like her mother. Fortunately, FORTUNATELY I don't have to deal with her mother much at all.
My mother on the other hand...... nah she's great... LOL!

My family loooooooves nicknames!!! We almost never name each other by our real names!!! So far, my daughter has the most of all, and she even respond to all of them even when it is something new. Jenny's nick name at university was "Katy Kaboom".
