Ok...I spent the $3 & purchased the Proboards app. It's actually pretty cool, but I cannot figure out how to post from it. Until I can figure that out, it's useless...

Mum, talking about Li Na, I think she played really well, considering her age. But, actually, I love soccer more than tennis! Read somewhere that you are a soccer coach?

Yes, I am a soccer coach to very young children, and i love soccer. But I have been a tennis player since I was a child and a huge tennis fan. Li na inspires me. I'm so excited that she won!

I think it's not easy for Li Na to achieve what she did today, as tennis wasn't such a popular sport in China, especially about 10-20 years ago. Did she say she is considering retirement after winning the Australian Open?

I never played tennis or soccer, but I love watching soccer so much! I remember watching Pele play his final World Cup tournament on TV back in 1970, and I got to love soccer ever since!

Last year she said that she was considering retirement. I think she had a hard time, but ultimately decided to continue.... Harder for her than other athletes.... I do love a good role model.... Being a coach to young children. How is li na perceived in china?

We are cross posting, but no matter.... I loved pele as well.... But soccer is my lleast favorite sport to watch, unless of course, it is my sixth to ninth grade team! Then it is a thrill! I am forever beholden to my girls! Just made them pumpkin banana bread tonight! They love a treat after practice. I refuse to bring store bought anything. That is a lesson for them as well.... I hope.

She is one of the most popular sports figure in China, and probably with the highest income. And it isn't easy for her since she left the national team in 2008. There was no more Government subsidy for her and she had to bear all the expenses herself.

Whoops, missed your last post.
Yes,that is why I admire her. It must have taken a lot of guts to do what she did. And, opened the door for many other girls in the process. She still wanted to go home and celebrate the new year with her family. Different cultures are facinating .

Jon. Oh, Jon. Are you looking forward to bundling Savannah up and playing in the snow tomorrow? We're much further south than you and are also under winter storm warning. I'm worried that we may just get an ice storm which definitely means a power outage at some point, therefore no wi-fi. How will I cope? This is is most unusual for the Deep South. Grandkids will love it though. Yippee! No school.
