We often need to trade tools and other rare items with our friends, but the only way to do this is to sell them at our roadside stands where strangers can snap them up within seconds.
The "wheat up" procedure is how we do these transfers to make sure the item goes to the right person. It's not absolutely guaranteed, but it works most of the time.
Ground rules:
•Request / arrange trades using the Trade, transfer, and help requests thread.
•You can also use private messages (PMs) to finalize arrangements.
•We normally charge full price for items, although you're free to charge less if you want.
•Trades are the norm, but you can also arrange a one-way transfer if the seller doesn't need anything in return.
•Both parties should leave the shop window open during the transaction. It refreshes in real time, so you don't need to close and reopen to see the new item placed or purchased.
How to do it:
•The traders make arrangements for what to trade and when, including who sells first.
•The seller "wheats up" - puts a single wheat for sale in the farthest right slot.
•The buyer is watching the seller's shop. When they see the wheat go up, they immediately buy it.
•The seller sees the intended buyer get the wheat, then collects payment and immediately puts up the item being traded in the same slot.
•The buyer sees the item and immediately buys it.
•Repeat at the other person's store to complete the trade.
•If selling multiple items if can be helpful to wheat u at the end so the buyer knows they have got everything.
Caution!
•Do not advertise! To avoid having strangers around to swipe the good stuff (snaking), uncheck the ad for both the wheat and the item being traded. Also make sure you don't have an ad active on any other items in your store.
•Sellers should double check the buyer when the wheat is purchased to make sure they are the intended recipient
•If an item gets snaked then STOP trading and come back to the thread to rearrange
Please feel free to ask questions or suggest improvements for the instructions. I'll periodically incorporate any new information and clear out the posts. Happy trading!
